Audio tour Summary
To celebrate Wichita's 150th birthday, the Together Wichita Board of Directors developed and funded a unique public art project. Thirteen ten-foot fiberglass replicas of Black Bear Bosin's iconic Keeper of the Plains sculpture were purchased for placement in parks and green spaces throughout the city. With the help of W/Young Pros, area artists were selected from a pool of nearly 60 applicants to paint the Keepers. Each artist received a stipend from Together Wichita. The Board also underwrote a documentary about the artistic process that was produced by Chris Frank with KPTS.
Two Keeper sculptures were installed in public parks and spaces in each of Wichita's six City Council Districts in August 2020. One sculpture was designated for placement by the Mayor of Wichita. Wichita Mayor Brandon Whipple selected the Advanced Learning Library as the location for the final Keeper.
Keep checking back for the specific location in each park where the Keepers will be permanently placed. All installations should be completed by the end of September, 2020.

Completed the keeper tour in one day. It was an amazing experience! We saw parts of Wichita that we've never seen before, and we've lived here for 20 years. 10/10 would recommend this. Please go do this with your family, it's a fun day. Favorite spot was the wetlands area, what a treasure. Thanks Wichita!
