Since the 1960's The Thing has been entertaining families and others traveling through the mostly isolated stretch between Deming, New Mexico and Benson, Arizona.

“The Thing” was originally owned and operated by Thomas Binkley Prince, who built a tourist stop around his oddities and interesting collection of unique items. Mr. Prince died in 1969 and the business was then under the ownership of his wife Janet for numerous years. Bowlin Travel Centers managed the operations and later added gasoline and a Dairy Queen. Despite its remote desert location, the attraction has been popular; appearing in several tourist guides, on YouTube as well as being the subject of several news stories and reports over the years.

In August of 2018, The Thing reopened it's museum, adding new exhibits and a brand new conspiracy story to help unlock the mystery of The Thing? posing the question what if?
